<p>The dialog box that opens next, allows limiting the extension of the layer to export with another layer or through coordinates<em><strong> (Extent properties)</strong></em>, the resolution <em><strong>(pixels)</strong></em> of the layer that will open in Google Earth<em><strong> (Output image properties)</strong></em>, etc.</p>
<p>Next select <strong>OK</strong>.</p>
<p>Finally we open <strong>Google Earth</strong> to load the KML file.  Select <strong>File &gt; Open</strong>.</p>

<p>First of all, it should be explained what a <strong>Digital Terrain Model (DTM)</strong> is. It was first defined by <strong>Miller and Laflamme</strong> in 1958 as &#8220;a statistical representation of the continuous surface of the ground by a large number of selected points with known X, Y, Z coordinates in an arbitrary coordinate field”.</p>

<p>Through this exercise, we will be using the MDT05 product from the download service available at the <a href="http://www.ign.es/ign/main/index.do">IGN</a> (Spanish Geographical Institute), and in particular we will work with the 559 sheet (City of Madrid).</p>
</div>

<p>Since the ASCII format is not really a raster and therefore we cannot use it as a TDM, we first have to transform this ASCII file to a raster file. For doing so, we will use the <strong>ASCII to Raster </strong>tool, available in the<strong> ArcToolBox</strong>:</p>

<p>How to solve this problem? One of the possibilities is to create a polygon that includes elevation data from the Digital Elevation Model (DEM):</p>
<p><strong>1. Create a polygon that will act as the limit.</strong></p>
<p><strong>2. Add the surface elevation information to this polygon using the Interpolate Shape tool.</strong></p>

<p><strong>6. Input Feature Class: the interpolated limit polygon (limite_tin_interp)</strong></p>

<li> Indicate the SF type as Hard_Clip. This means that it uses it as a clipping to delineate the TIN.</li>
